Womenswear: Erdem Pre-Spring 2016 collection
20 August 2015 | + Boyana DimovaTweet | ![]() |

Victorian times interpreted through a 1960s lens form the structure of Pre-Spring 2016. The buttoned-up mood of the 19th century is fused with a boyish sense of 1960s daywear, expressed in a certain eccentricity and ease embodied by the woman of the season.
Her character is illustrated by the ‘swans’ of Truman Capote: charismatic socialites including Slim Keith, Marella Agnelli and Babe Pailey; and the Horst portraits taken of the latter. Women such as Anna Karenina, Anita Ekberg, Pattie Boyd, Mia Farrow, and Goldie Hawn likewise serve as inspiration, representing the collection’s dynamic between Old World and New.
It is framed by an atmosphere of tension between the sweet and the menacing, borrowed from Twin Peaks as well as the work of Fellini. Garments are founded in contrast, spanning from the formal to the sexy.
